Slam What What You Will (Scholarship Entry) 2015

blossoms.
life, a cherry blossom tree
the essence of it in pink and red clumps.
the roots hold them high up
to be sheltered and be sheltered
underneath the vast night sky
beneath the bright blue atmosphere.
the tiny flowers
sections of people
rest in layers together
to fend off wind, rain, sun, snow.
together they stand
united as one
until the grains
inside the hourglass let them go
trickling, trickling, trickling
the grains fall
in time
with the flowers
til they fall
onto the
ground.
and the roots
decay
saying
goodbye
to
life
yet

the
rain falls
and feeds the earth
moisture seeping in
the seedlings, the dead petals
from below
rejoice
and
grow to
relive this
merry go
round
of
life.
